Aims to promote a culture shift in the treatment and care of the elderly. Through ability and need pairing of residents in a more multigenerational context, health and happiness can be promoted through a ‘family unit’ organization. Residents will benefit from this interconnected social experience; through involvement, growth, and inspiration. The complex is arranged along a privacy gradient; allowing residents to achieve a more home-like feeling and permitting nature and views to infiltrate into the property. Each unit is designed for optimum passive design, allowing to optimize the southwestern breeze and better solar control. Limited glazing on south face minimizes heat gain but allows for cross ventilation. Abundant glazing on the north side allows for adequate daylighting and can open up the building for ventilation and indoor/outdoor connection.
