CARE

LEATHER //

Each piece is crafted with ethically sourced American vegetable-tanned leather - the most naturally processed and environmentally friendly leather out there. Because it is minimally processed, each piece will have individual characteristics that make it one of a kind. Vegetable-tanned leather will darken over time as exposed to sunlight and handling, this patina is highly coveted.  For upkeep and protection, condition your piece as needed.

For daily scuffs and scratches I swear by the very technical method of spit cleaning; slightly dampen a fingertip and gently work the marking out in a circular motion.

My very favorite leather conditioner is Smith’s Leather Balm; as its easy to apply, minimally alters the natural hue, and made of only three natural ingredients. Every // piece is finished with Smith’s before leaving the studio.

WOOD //

Each // piece is turned and finished by hand using food safe oils. All designed and created with a lifetime of use in mind.

Avoid soaking wood vessels in water and after hand washing, dry object thoroughly. If the wood appears dull or dry, which will happen over time with use; use a beeswax or food-safe oil to bring back its luster. Allow the oil to fully penetrate the wood fibers for an hour or so, then buff off any excess. Scratches and water marks may removed by using a light [320] sandpaper in a circular motion, wipe off dust before applying an even coat of oil.

Thoughtful planning keeps our scrap wood bin to a minimum and the copious amounts of sawdust produced in the process gets composted in local gardens (mostly our own neighborhood compound)!
